Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween to everybody! We are ready for the trick or treaters, the candy bowl is filled.
Now we wait until it gets dark and the ghouls get out. I really love this time of year, the autumn air, cold mornings and sunny afternoons mixed in with rainy days perfect for sitting inside and doing some knitting or stringing shiny beads.

Yesterday I started a little Halloween knit, just for the fun of it.
By the time I went to bed I had this.

This afternoon it was turned into this,

His name is Goyle, and he is keeping watch upstairs in DH's office.

Monster bash

There were plenty of creepy things and awesome dressed up people, big and small. I can't post any pictures of all those happy faces here, so you have to take my word for it.
But I can give you some witches brew instead,

Games to play......

Wonderful creatures to greet you at the door.

Oh, and some faces I can show, of course he does not want to dress up, he is to "mature" for that!!

Somebody played the Piano, and it was not our music teacher.

Oh, and another face, never to old for a good dress-up party! I am thinking I do need to start on next years costume, I am thinking something like this, always wanted one.

That day again.....

It was that again, it comes only once a year. We all pick a children's book and dress up like a character from that book.

Don't know if there is a childrens' book with Michael Jackson, but there was a mini version of him.
Plenty of Monsters....
And guess who came all the way from Kansas, and sat quietly next to Cinderella??

We are not done yet, in half an hour the Monster bash starts.
This Pirate better get some grub before heading out again.
More pictures to follow later!!

What's for dinner??

It doesn't get any better, fresh Brussels sprouts! for me at least, the boys not so much. But paired with chicken, mushrooms, tomatoes, bell peppers and a healthy amount of garlic it was really delicious.
And we had enough for leftovers. (insert evil grin)

This is what it looked like today, rain, glorious rain. Lovely!! See how happy our garden is with rain, instead of sprinklers every day.
We spend our Sunday in Pj's and watched gymnastics on TV this afternoon, took a nap, cooked dinner and now I am ready for a hot cup of coffee and another episode of the Amazing race.
I love Sundays, why can't every day be a rainy Sunday???

And I made these over the last few days, lovely long warm fingerless mittens, kinda silly the word fingerless mittens, they come up to my elbows. Maybe arm warmers is a better word.
Can't wait until it gets cold enough to cover myself up in hand knits.

Saturday is always cleaning day around here, no fun, but it has to be done.
Lucky for me there is this wonderful thing called iPod, and singing out loud while scrubbing bathrooms makes it a little more bearable at least for me, not for the boys who keep begging me to stop singing.
My answer is the same every week: "I clean, I sing" if you want me to stop, you clean.
Hopefully the neighbors don't mind me singing "sister Kate" on the top of my lungs.

Tomorrow, Sunday, only laundry, cooking dinner and some ironing to do.

22 leaves

Sometimes colors can seem really different when acquiring yarn from the World Wide Web, I thought I was buying a nice dark blue. But when it came it was purple.......
A pretty heather purple, but not really my color. It sat in my stash for the longest time and then someone joked I knit her something purple, knowing that I don't "do" purple.

I did knit something, it was a quick and easy knit and a lovely pattern.

Right now the shawl is on its' way to a cruise, who knew, from a plastic bin to a cruise! And I hear it already served its purpose of keeping warm in drafty places.

Now on to more gift knitting!!!

It was a weird Monday to say the least, Internet was down at work. What resulted in a backlog of reports, because said Internet was also down on Friday.

I ended up taking the teenagers to work and they sat in my office doing homework while I finished up work.
Talking about finishing, Saturday night this Christmas stocking rolled of my needles, I love to mix up the colors and the patterns, so the next one is going to be cast on tonight.

Hopefully our Tuesday will be better.

Olallieberry pie

Last Thursday, our first grade classes went on a field trip to Gizdich ranch. That means only one thing Olallieberry pie!! These are the best EVER!! no kidding.
One of the parents was so incredibly nice to bring me a pie. All I can tell you that it did not made it home whole. It was just to tempting to take a piece right when it came in. Did I mention it did came right out of the oven and was still a little warm??

This is how it looked after the boys cut into it, and the last bite, yum!!

If you are ever in the neighborhood check it out, they have the best pies, not to mention their apple juice (or if you are there try an apple slushie)
It rained today (yay!!) besides watching a fun movie there also was some season related reading, and of course knitting.

This one is for my Dad, maybe he needs a camera in his backyard too!!

My apologies for not posting in a while, things have been very busy here.
Work has been crazy and sucks up all my energy, besides having chores to keep up with, because the laundry etc. doesn't do itself.
There was not even time to do some knitting, well just a little, but I am not saying, because I am in the midst of some gift knitting. Christmas is just around the corner!! My handy pod is right there to keep track of the rows and number of stitches!

Here a pic of some gift knitting in the making, whaahaaa, see no color!! But I can say it was a beautiful afternoon and I enjoyed knitting in the garden, listening to one of my favorite podcasts "Stuff you missed in History class".

There was also some homework to be done, not his favorite thing to do in the weekend and who can blame him? It is, if you ask me, to much anyway. Everyday without a fail DS is doing his homework for give and take three hours.

Gotta love that "Mooohoooom stop taking pictures" look.

And I did not realize this but look, Orange shirt and orange pencil, hmmmmmmmm, wondering what color is used the most around this house?

Tomorrow, Monday again, but on the bright side, Halloween is not far away anymore followed by a few days off at Thanksgiving!
